Support for Industry Decarbonisation: Incentives for GHG Emission Reduction

The Portuguese government has launched a new programme to support the decarbonisation of industry, with the aim of promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This support is intended for companies in the industrial sector, covering Economic Activity Codes (EAC) 05 to 33, and offers incentives for the adoption of technologies and practices that contribute directly to a more sustainable future.

Eligible expenses for funding include the acquisition of tangible and intangible assets and the contracting of services that result in a reduction in electricity and/or fossil fuel consumption. Among the measures supported are:

  • The implementation of low-carbon processes and technologies;
  • The adoption of energy efficiency measures;
  • The incorporation of energy from renewable sources and energy storage systems.

These initiatives aim to strengthen the competitiveness of industrial companies, while helping Portugal meet its international environmental commitments. The programme is an opportunity for companies to modernise their production processes and advance the energy transition, ensuring a more sustainable and innovative future for the industrial sector.
